Kassiopi is an area with rich history, and several attractions around the region attest to that. Hovering above the town, the ruins of the Byzantine Castle of Kassiopi, with breathtaking, panoramic views of the marina and coastline is a must-see. A guided tour to the abandoned Venetian village of Old Perithia, about 8 km from Kassiopi, is also an attraction worth including in your itinerary, as is a visit to the church of Panagia Kassiopitissa, built on the location of the ancient temple of Kassios Zeus. The church is also famous for its “panigiry”, the vibrant religious celebration that takes place on August 15th.
